Case Study - Bevil Williams
“Any employer who doesn’t make use of the apprenticeship scheme is missing a trick."
"We have been recruiting our staff via the apprenticeship programme for four years now and it has led to a fantastic workforce at RePc."
"Working with WACC to deliver the learning we have been able to engage with young people who, for various reasons have found themselves unemployed and in need of support. At RePc we have found that when we invest in young people and give them hope they respond positively in the workplace. So far we have offered full time employment to all apprentices who have stayed the course with us."
WACC has a dedicated Employer Gateway to help local businesses meet their company’s training and development needs.
We appreciate your company must ensure a return on training investment whether it is reduced staff turnover; reduced costs of absence; reduced error rates; reduced risks of litigation; increased productivity or innovation.
Whilst many of WACC courses have been planned with employers in mind, we recognise local employers need training matched to their specific company needs. That is why our Employer Gateway exists.
We can meet with you as Company Director, Owner Manager; CEO or Training Officer to explore how your company’s needs can be met through effective workforce planning, training and development. Some of our services are provided at reduced rates through government sponsorship, and all are cost effective.
We can respond to your needs for training and qualifications in both specialist and general workforce skills such as: customer service; IT; business administration; management, leadership and team building; as well as specific industry-focused vocational training in health and social care, retail, children’s care, learning and development and supporting teaching and learning in schools.
We can support you to meet your statutory duties in health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding, equality law and develop your company’s approach to environmental sustainability, carbon reduction and energy management.
To keep your business competitive, at the forefront of new technologies, we are developing innovative training courses such as social media to enhance marketing communications.
WACC has a rapidly developing apprenticeship training scheme with government funding support. Through our scheme you can identify vacancies suitable for an apprentice aged 16-18 or a more mature apprentice aged 19 or over. You will be supported in recruiting and selecting from a growing pool of pre-screened candidates. WACC will support you and your chosen apprentice throughout the training to ensure everyone gets the most out of the opportunity and your company benefits from a well trained, well disciplined, well qualified employee.
WACC Employer Gateway will also support you to explore the potential of an ‘Apprentice Time Share’ scheme where you will share the employment, training costs and support responsibilities of an Apprentice with a ‘buddy’ company in an allied sector.
Student work experience placements
As part of our student pre-apprenticeship/ traineeship study programmes all students are required to participate within work experience as part of their studies. Our students can bring skills such as creative thinking, decision making, individual responsibility and integrity to your company.
Our students have a willingness to learn and we would like employers to coach, mentor and develop the skills of our students which in turn will prepare them for work. If you have any work placement opportunities or are in a position to offer work placement’s to our students as this could fit with your corporate social responsibility please contact the Employer Gateway Team on 01922 663000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
