About this course
The Level 1 Bricklaying course is designed for learners interested in starting a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry. The course consists of 6 units all of which are mandatory, they are: Health, Safety & Welfare, Principles of building construction, information and communication, Carry out Block laying activities, Carry out Brick laying activities, Carry out cavity walling activities and Contribute to setting out and building up to damp proof.
No formal entry qualifications are required although you will be required to have an interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the suitability of the course. All applicants will undertake an initial assessment to establish their level and will be required to upskill their English and Maths where applicable. You will also be required to carry out work experience as part of the programme.

How will I learn?
This course is a mixture of practical and theory with externally assessed on-line computer based examinations. As well as studying Setting out, cavity walling and block laying activities you will study Construction Health & Safety and Construction Technology. You will also have a chance to complete your training ready for you to undertake your H&S test to enable you to apply for your CSCS Green card.The tasks and assessments you will undertake will grow in complexity and difficulty as you progress, enabling your skills and knowledge to be fully developed and tested.
