About this course

Become a professional chef by completing these industry standard qualifications.  You’ll gain a high standard of cookery skills from processes, such as roasting and frying to commodities, whilst also learning other workplace essentials like menu design.

The Diploma in Professional Cookery is for anyone who works or wants to work as a chef in the catering and hospitality sector.  It is ideal for learners coming straight from school who wish to seek a career in this industry.  It is also ideal for those chefs in industry who would like to continue or refresh their knowledge by undertaking topics within the qualification.

Course Requirements

You will have a genuine interest in the hospitality industry and be willing to explore opportunities to get you into work.

Where will I study?

The course is offered at our Hawbush site of the college. The venue is accessible via an excellent public transport bus route and there is some parking available. Community Transport is available to qualifying learners.

Why should I do this course?

This course is ideal for learners who have an interest in developing their skills and may like to progress into becoming a volunteer, take part in work experience or get into paid employment.

How will I learn?

You will learn in a range of ways that include hands on experience to develop your skills, enterprise  activities, group activities as well as individual tasks.   You will create a portfolio of evidence to gain the qualification.

What qualification will I get?

Level 2 or Level 3Professional Cookery, depending on your level of study.

What can I do after this course?

This course can lead to further study at a higher level within the same subject or study within a different discipline.

What is the length of this course?

This course runs for 36 weeks – 2 evenings a week
